 QuakeCon 2002 will start today and a lot of top player's will attend this big prize money tourney, me and Subbert asked some players (who will attend QuakeCon 2002) for an interview. I interviewed 1 of the only pro-gamers in the world Johnathan "fatal1ty" Wendel, his big history and al his prize money what he won in CPL tournaments gives him a big name, what also will give a lot of pressure on him to win this big prize money tournament. In this interview we had a talk about QuakeCon, but also some other things, like, what he thinks of the future of pro-gaming, which gaming event impressed him the most, what he prefer, a QuakeCon 1v1, like it is now or a QuakeCon tdm, his anwser is in the interview. Subbert interviewed jason "socrates" sylka, in this interview he ofcourse talks about QuakeCon tourney, what he expect, something about the maplist and his plans for Quake3 duel in the future. The third person and the last one who I could get for a interview is Jared "cha0ticz" Cugno, a player from D|S who is taking QuakeCon serious for 100 % and ofcourse he is going for the win, his 4 hour practice a day and experince what he have can give him good chance to do well. In this interview with him I talk about QuakeCon, his chances at QuakeCon, if he win the 20.000 dollar, what he is gonna do with it and many more.
I also asked dutch best duel player Lemmy "if22" de Groot if he could give me a prediction, he interview fatal1ty 2 days ago for XSReality.

I think fatal1ty will win this years QuakeCON event, cause he is eager to win. He has been practising for 8 hours a day since 21st of June. Last year he got beated by ZeRo4, I think cause a lack of motivation. This year he is gonna be back and kick some ..ehh.. butt!
ZeRo4 is always as motivated as always, but I think ZeRo4 will start losing again from fatal1ty. I'm sure he has some fear for him and that will cost him the first place.
LeXeR is one of the best players in the world. I respect him, but he is also a person who can play one day very good and another game a little bit rusty. If he's not totally concentrated he will make some mistakes and lose the game. That is why he will end up third.
czm has been practising with fatal1ty a lot and he is confident enough to take 4th place. He has a lot of motivation cause we haven't heard from him for a long long time, and so he wants to proof himself again.
socrates is getting better and better. His aim is not the problem. I think his tactics can become a little bit better. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure he can't take any of the top3 spots down. It will be very close between CZM and Socrates, but I think CZM will get the upper hand.

Other QuakeCon news is that belth, bitchslayre and Gator won't attend QuakeCon 2002, belth already told me this yesterday that he won't attend QuakeCon, because his manager kinda screwed up his airplane tickets. I talk alot with belth and I know how much he was looking forward to attend this tournament, it was his dream to attend such as big tournament with al those big US players. belth hopes there will be a WCG Sweden, so that he can attend WCG in Korea. Gator and BITCHSLAYRE from Clan519 are also not going to attend this tournament. ShackES reported that on their site. |
