c58|d1monn: Greetings Mikes, how is your mood now when you are back from QLAN 2?

Mikes: Unfortunately I am unable to say that my mood is perfect, but in case I will say that it is good, it will be true :-) this is all because we were not the 1st place owners...

c58|d1monn: Can you please tell us about your impressions? How was the tourney organized like and what were the most remarkable things?

Mikes: The Sweden itself reminds me of a village :-), at least the part which I saw. People are relaxed, and this is felt right after the first minutes after landing :-). They are just sitting in their gardens, decorating fences with various flowers. As to the tournament itself, I would not rate it more than 4- in the 5 grade scale. Even though it was organized by quake players themselves. Pretty ugly organization of tournament games ruined the fun - each team should have played n-number of games until set time. This would have been convenient especially since it was hard to find the oponent with their squad ready, everyone was running in sleeping hall, bars, kebabs, shops etc. In the end everyone suffered from the huge delays. I had an impression that the main TDM admin -sizah, had made only the tournament's table in Exel, and that's it. During Day 2 we have faced a pretty funny situation - we did not play our last game in the group since our oponents were playing 1vs1/ra3 or they were just somewhere away all the time, almighty sizah came to me and said "it will be ok if I put you to losers brackets?", I was like - no way dude, and had to reply with "f#ck off" quote, after this I went to meet some familiar Swedes who helped me to find our runaway oponents. After an hour spent for searchring the oponents and listening to sizah's whine the game has been played, and we did not receive default loss.

c58|d1monn: You have been playing together with proZaC during the whole tournament. How can you rate his current skill?

Mikes: During the Day 1 we were playing a lot of duels and during all matches proZaC was doing an amazing effort in order to balance the teamplay in our team, he was doing it so hard, that he even lost his voice and during the next two days he could only whisper :-). On the whole he is a perfect defender, he is capable of holding his point tightly, you can always be sure that he is in the right position all the time and will not go for some free-frag. During our conversations he said that he is not playing Quake 3 at all, and came only because I have asked him to. During his free time he is playing QW since he likes this game whole lot more than q3 :-) However this did not affect his game at all, during all games he was a top-notch player.

c58|d1monn: Which match was the most remarkable and why? What was Team Moscow lacking in order to beat the Climbers?

Mikes: Of course our first match against iCE cLIMBERS. We were preparing amazingly serious for this game and were in the lead for the first 10 minutes during both maps, but we were not able to pick quad during most of the times given, and this affected the final result. We were also missing cooKKie, in case he'd show up we would have won for sure. Superfinal was not played at all, I mean we were unable to play it since it was 8AM in Moscow, and we were not sleeping at all, meanwhile the Swedes were going away to Sleeping hall in order to have some rest and sleep after every game. I have been trying to make agreement that we will go to sleep for a while before the final game, but iC said that they are going away in the morning and we were forced to "play".

c58|d1monn: What are your future plans?

Mikes: Work :-) I have almost dropped playing Quake 3 almost a year ago, and now I have been training only in order to beat ic. Unfortunately it did not happen. From now on I will play only for fun in Nations Cup. However since these rumors about ASUS Summer are floating in the air, I might start training again, of course in case you will bring us iCE cLIMBERS :) (there is a chance that ASUS and Cyberfight will pay the trip for iC to come for the 4x4 event /Lexx)

My story..
Good that a story has actually two sides and if there is missing a lot of information from one side, then you get usually wrong impressions of what happened or the story is totally screwed because of the different storys from different persons.

First of all, raccoon and me are both headadmins of the TDM tournament and also the duel tournaments – Just a small note.

The schedule was based on the hope that players and clans would actually play their games on time. I recognize that I made a big mistake on this, because it’s more a lan than a real professional tournament – so the tournament time should have been longer.

The funny thing though, is that you forgot to mention that a lot of things and probably the biggest reason that I started to whine so much (as far as I remember, I whined only a few times coz I was getting pissed) You forgot to mention that proZaC was lost on Saturday(not sure) till like 14:00 CET – perhaps even later, rumours were going around that proZaC slept from 7:00 CET - no wonder that this happened.
During the time, HeadZ waited for you guys to play the game for the TDM competition but you guys couldnt play the game, because proZaC was still gone – no where to be found, don’t tell me this is a lie coz when proZaC is gone, you miss him J.
We actually planned to start around 11:00 again with the competitions, but Moscow was arriving around 12:00 and then proZaC was still missing. When he finally arrived I asked you guys to play versus HeadZ asap, but headz was already playing their RA3 matches for DIE(it was taking to long with forZe), I think it was only zth and that made you guys wait for them, while all the other matches already got played.

The main problem of the schedule was the amount of “n00b” clans that competed in the tournament, we had to many and they were very hard to locate and to let them play their matches. Only two game admins and 26 clans plus the duel competition, and that with hardly any rest wasn’t that easy as we expected.

It’s obviously that the tournament did not happen as we hoped it would happened, infact, the schedule was screwed and I blame myself, we should have handled way better. I completly recognize this mistake what I made, no doubt about that but for me it was also the first experiences as admin at a tournament like this. Keep in mind that you have to rely on the other tournaments as well, if the schedule doesn’t work out there as planned, then the rest of schedule gets delayed as well – this is because people are playing in more then one competition.

I don’t blame you on being disappointed in the schedule and stuff, but I think you need to get your facts right, because the reason that I wanted to put your team in the Loser-Brackets was because it was taking to long before proZaC was actually showing up. For showing up 5 hours to late, after the match time, you would get a default loose in the Online EuroCup or any other competition, so please don’t blame me on that that I whined a little bit and that I thought about putting you in the loserbracket.

Again, It was definitely our fault, from the QLAN organisation that the tournament got delayed extremely long, but we are humans as well and I learned from mistake. If we could have ran the tournament better, then we would have, we tried everything in our power to make this tournament a success, in one way I think it was a good tournament, it showed a lot of Quake action.

Anyway, this is my story, I don’t mind that you make these kind of answers, as long as you put some correct information in as well, then I am happy.
