Cyberfight.org: Hello, please introduce yourself? Lauke: Hi, Im Laurens 'tgs.xtlauke' Pluymaekers from the Netherlands. I'm 19 years old and have participated in 3 WCG tournaments.
Cyberfight.org: You are playing UT2003 now while most of your clan members switched back to UT1, do you plan switching back to the "good old classic" after WCG as well? What can you say about UT2003 in general? Lauke: No, I will maybe play some UT1 games when I have the time but I will not play it seriously at all. Right now I don't really like the gaming aspect but more the competitive and tournament part.
Cyberfight.org: Will you play UT2004, and what do you expect from this game? Lauke: If it's good I will play it. I don't know how good it will be for 1on1 and 4on4. I hope those mods will be good.
Cyberfight.org: What can you say about Russian skill in Unreal Tournament? This year 2 of 3 Russians were not lucky enough and didn't qualify cause of frag lack, your comments on this rule's term, is it fair? I mean look at Varagh, it's simply pathetic that this kid is so unlucky for 2nd or even 3rd time because of the frag number. Lauke: It's unfair. I think the rules should be changed to head to head instead of fragcount. Doing fragspread (difference between frags and deaths would be a bit better already). Right now the defensive players really have a disadvantage while the agressive players can go through with a bit luck.
Cyberfight.org: Please compare WCG 2003 and WCG 2002, which one is better and why? Lauke: I Like the double elimination of 2002 and the best out of 3 of 2003. WCG is nicer for me because we have a more entertaining area and I'm having great fun outside of the gaming part. Like having fun in the fastfood-restaurant or relaxing in the sauna.
Cyberfight.org: Your plans after Korea? Lauke: Don't know yet exactly! Maybe I will quit the serious gaming if it's no fun for me anymore. One thing I will do is going to focus on school more because I'm terribly behind cause of all the tournaments and all the preparation that comes with it.
Cyberfight.org: How were you prepearing for WCG 2003 Grand Final? Lauke: Practicing healhhy; playing enough but not playing too much! At most 3-4 hours a day last two weeks. Average I've played 2 hours every day. I have played alot at a 2-day lan with Roach which was a good practice and alot of fun.
Cyberfight.org: CPL vs WCG, which one is better and why? Lauke: I have never been at CPL so I can't really say. WCG looks better thoug, it's more fair. Nevertheless it's a shame some really good gaming countries don't have a qualifier so that's a very bad thing of WCG. WCG is the number 1 tournament though together with ESWC :)
Cyberfight.org: Do you consider yourself a professional gamer? Lauke: No, I don't play for money and don't play that much.
Cyberfight.org: What is cybersport's future in your opinion? Lauke: I have no idea. I hope it will be really good for the gamers: more and better tournaments for gamers and not only for sponsors.
Cyberfight.org: What about UT's eye-candy thing? Mark Rein explained that it must be present in cybersport since major sponsors of the events like WCG and CPL are Graphic Cards developers and they want to show the power of their chips, not just r_picmip 5. Lauke: I think it's important for a game to have good graphics so it is attractive for the public for tournaments. Look at q3; still great graphics and still a very good and much played game. Although it's slowly dieing, it has been around for 4 years now.
Cyberfight.org: What do you think about Dracula's game? He beat you single time? Is he good and why he lost? And few words about Chip? Lauke: He's very good, he is a very defensive played and I could not handle him well because my aim wasn't that good today. Same goes for Chip. They are both really smart and good players!
Cyberfight.org: Whats about GitZz? Lauke: It is really bad he didn't have a chance. He should get autoberth since he didn't have a chance to qualify. GitzZz proved at ESWC that he is still the best or one of the best atleast. It would be a great thing for WCG if he would participate because then people take WCG more seriously, the tournament would be more exciting and also more fair.
Cyberfight.org: Final shout outs? Lauke: Thnx to everyone who helped me over the past 4 years in gaming. I wouldn't be here without you, you know who you are. Also thanks to our sponsor The GameSyndicate.
