Cyberfight: Hi, please introduce yourself. Elky: Hello, my name is Bertrand Grospellier, i'm a 22 years old starcraft gamer from france and i m living in Korea as a professional gamer since december 2001.
Cyberfight: You took 2nd place @ WCG 2001, how can you compare these two events (WCG 2003)? Elky: I think the main difference is that the best korean, who is also my arch nemesis, decided to not participate this year and it will greatly affect the tournament. Beside that i think this WCG 2003 looks to be great, especially because its taking place in Seoul again.
Cyberfight: You took 1st place @ ECW, please tell us about the event, how it went? Elky: It went pretty good for me because i was in really good shape and i was playing home, so everybody wanted me to win and it helped me a lot. About the organisation, even tho it looked really nice and the place was great, there were so many problems that made it really bad for all of us gamers. We weren't treated really nicely by some of the organisers. Even tho the head guy did his best and was very nice, some people like Sam really destroyed the event and its really sad.
Cyberfight: You live in Korea now, what the progamer's life is like? Elky: It's really nice, an extraordinary experience i think. I'm discovering new culture and new country at a young age like that, and also get a lot of respect and good money from my job. I'm getting many friends, learning korean language as well as korean way of life, and i really love life here, Seoul being such a good place to live and party for people of my age.
Cyberfight: You have really original style, how did you invent it and why? Elky: When i first came to Korea, in 2000, i realised that i couldn't beat Koreans by playing like them, because at that time they were faster, and had more facilities to practice. So i decided to change my style of play and try to counter the Korean style, which worked really fine the first months, but then i had to adapt again and mix some of korean tricks into my style, which makes it really useful against foreigners too.
Cyberfight: What are your plans for future? Elky: I have many projects in the gaming business as well as in others area of business, but i'm not so sure yet. I think ill stay progamer for 2 more years and then i'll probably do something else with the money i saved.
Cyberfight: How many hours do you spend for trainings daily? Elky: About 4 or 5 hours, depending of the incoming competitions and how well prepared i feel for it. Some weeks i could just play a few games a day, but its good to play a lot to stay in good shape when the schedule is getting busy. |
