fox, one of the best Quake 3 TeamDeathmatch player in sweden, he came from a unknown clan to a superstar team called The p1mps, with star players like ex AllStars player proZaC, ex iCE cLIMBER player panicore, he won with ic CPL London and ended second at the EC3, xorgal who won the EuroCup 1 with finish team AM and tech who also came from AllStars.
fox played an awsome tournament at the EuroCup 5, he was one of the player who leaded p1mps to a win.
fox history is not big, LA7 was his first big event but he played really good.
In my opinion it was time for a interview with one of the swedish p1mps, so I did. I hope you enjoy reading the interview, Have fun.

sizah: fox, lets start with the basic stuff, who you are, where you come from and stuff :D or shall I call you airrocket man or something ? after all these l33t airrockets you made at EC5
fox: hello! :) im an 18 year old guy without a tan living in southern sweden. my favorite hobbey is as you may suspect, computer gaming. You can call me airrocket man if you insist ;) sound cool. ha.

sizah: to be honest I don't know much about you, I've seen you in first action in eSports(p1mps) what did you do before that? what clans ?
fox: not many people do. i was stuck without an internet connection for very long and got my adsl somewhere inbetween ec4 and 5. Before that i only played on lan with some friends from the same town as me. we called ourselves ugh. That was my first and only clan before I joined up with p1mps.

sizah: how did you start playing games and when was that?
fox: Started playing jezzball on windows 3.11! nah, seriously. one of my friends (later also in ugh) got a leet modem and a warez version of quake1. he had been downloading tons of mods and had found one he really liked. teamfortress. i got hooked also and we played from his computer, taking turns. i got my own comp maybe 6 months later and played that until the q3 test was released. Thought it was keyboard-only :P skills i tell you.

sizah: The time for you guys in 2easy wasn't that easy, panicore left, proZaC and tech left, was there no motavation to rebuild the team?
fox: Yeah it was a hard blow for us to loose pro and tech. panicore stayed a while to see if we were going to start over. but nothing happened and he went back to his in real friends iCE cLIMBERs (esports united now). After that it was me, fazz and nutcase. But we are no longer a part of 2easy since they cherish. Their cs-team more :). which leaves us without clans.

sizah: Will fazz, you and nutcase keep playing in other clan or with new players with maybe a other clanname ?
fox: we havent talked about it. we'll see.

sizah: What are you gonna do in the future ? what are you plans ? Q3 duel ? UT2003 ?
fox: a bit of both i think. as long as there are tournaments in quake3, be it 1on1 och tdm, i will continue to play it since i love the game. ut2003 is definately a possibility :p

sizah: so you will try to get more cups and tourneys under your name ?
fox: always will :)

sizah: You said it might be possible that you are gonna play UT2003, What do you think of it ? do you think there is a future for pro-gamers with that game ?
fox: I dislike that there is no good way to get around a map fast :/. there are many things that are unlike quake3. the three big ones are alternate firemode, dodgecrap and the completely different engine. they are all though to adapt to but i guess its possible. Real pro-gamers may be possible in it but only a handful.

sizah: What do you think of the idea of pro-gamers, you ended 4th at LA7 and first at ClanBase EuroCup, can you call yourself a sort of pro-gamer then?
fox: some people seem to have misunderstood the word 'pro-gamer'. to me, its someone who makes a living of gaming, hence the word professional. many like to call those who just play on the highest level pro-gamers. if your definition resembles the last one, I guess I am a pro-gamer :p

sizah: Do you think there is any future as pro-gamer then? to make money with it and playing games to do that as job ?
fox: some already do. like those starcraft guys in korea and i think good old nip did nothing but play counter-strike. But I think it will take many years until MANY people can make a living off gaming. something like NHL where everyone is pro, lies far ahead in the future, it may become reality, who knows :P

sizah: do you want to be one of these pro-gamers then ?
fox Though question. my passion for gaming had an impact on my social life and school :P if the money is good then maybe it'll make the sacrifice worth it.

sizah: So who knows we can see fox on tv in maybe 5 years as a pro-gamer playing for one of the biggest organisations ? :DD
fox: hah that would be cool yeah. we'll see :). You never know when a new game comes along and totally captures your heart.

sizah: maybe I can tell my girlfriend, EY thats that guy who I interviewed for Cyberfight 5 years ago :p
fox: hehe

sizah: Didn't you p1mp guys need a bodyguard to protect the EC5 cup ? because when I brought you guys to the train station a lot of people where looking to the cup what you won and some people asked you what you won.
fox: haha that was funny. everyone kept asking what we had won. they got replies like soccer, tennis and ultimate fighting :P. Everyone at the airport stared :) kinda fun

sizah: Who has the cup now by the way?
fox: It should be standing at cafe 9 in stockholm. i havent personally inspected it but i trust pro and tech ;P. Better for it to stand somewhere where people can see it.

sizah: How much quake do you play every day? or every week ?
fox: not as much as you may imagine. about 1 or 2 hours per day of effective game-time. the rest is all irc-idling :) Some days i dont feel like playing and just skip it and play some warcraft3 instead. it owns :o

sizah: And how much do you play when there is a big tourney comming up ?
fox: heh im not a marathon-player. i get fed up easily. but maybe twice as much? maybe more. There havent been any big tourneys for me so i dont know :)

sizah: Do you still like to play quake 3 ?
fox: yeah very much, especially on lan. everytime when ive played some ut2003 or counterstrike and go back to quake3, it feel so f*cking good :) thats how you know when you like a game.

sizah: How did you became a p1mp ?
fox: well, prozac was gathering up a bunch of good players, saying that he was going to start a clan. we were 8 people at that time. So, for maybe a week we played prac's under fakenick and kept scrimming and playing vs eachother. Like a tryout, after the game prozac decided who were in and who was not in the team.

sizah: which 8 players were that ?
fox: needless to say, i passed :P and the p1mps were born consisting of me, prozac, tech, panicore and xorgal

sizah: The clan started as 'p1mps' after that you moved to eSports, later sca and then 2easy for sponsor deals, I know that there are cookies called 'pims' why didn't you ask them for a sponsor deal ? the name looks pretty the same as 'p1mps' :D
fox: we didnt know about them :/ would have been great with free cookies! ;>

sizah: You've been at LA7 first with EYE and 1 week later to Holland with p1mps for the EC5. What was more fun and why ? :D
fox: la7 was an enormous arrangement that really impressed me. broadcasted live on television and such. but for me, holland was way more fun :) holland is such a great place, alot thanks to the fact that everyone knows english perfectly. Too bad there werent more teams attending the eurocup finals but its costs money so :/

sizah: Which organisation was better in your opinion ?
fox: Clanbase eurocup, definately. from what i hear the coverage was also excellent, other organizers needs to take a lesson from clanbase :)

sizah: There is a Clanbase movie comming up again, with the best q3 moments and Cs moments, you played a great eurocup lan final are you looking forward to see these great frag what you made back in the movie ?
fox: i love q3/cs-avis so yes, im looking forward to seeing it very much.

sizah: Have you seen the preview already ? If yes, what do you think of the idea what Wob is using now ?
fox: no i havent, where where where?

sizah: What quake 3 movie is the best you ever seen ?
fox: uhm well, there are different aspects to a movie which makes it good. editing, concept and the frags themselves.
"the badge" was really cool. you could tell they put in a lot of effort in making it.
another one i can think of is "made for quake". dont remember what i liked about it, just that i enjoyed it :)

sizah: And the ClanBase EuroCup 3 movie? didn't you liked that one ?
fox: oh, and the eurocup4-movie :p

fox: yeah i enjoyed that one also. faded in pictures of the players while showing the frags and the last 30 secs :)

sizah: There is a chance that CPL Oslo is using Quake 3 again, what would you prefer? tdm or duel ?
fox: 2on2! I love playing quake3 2on2! with my honey tech ;P
I believe its very funny to spectate also and i've always wondered why there are no big 2on2 tournaments.

sizah: In US there is one now, It's called DoubleTeam 2 what is hosted by clanbase. Do you think it's a great idea for Clanbase to do it for the Europe scene tho ?
fox: i know i would love it :). unfortunately there's always the aspect of ping which screws everything up. But I think many people would sign up.

sizah: You already told me that you haven't participated big events, but which big events did you participate ? or is there REALLY nothing ? :D
fox: i guess its eurocup5 and lan arena7 :). i dont count remedy and dreamhack as big events since all the good clans/players arent pariticipating, but i never practised specificly for those events. :p actually, EYE asked me the very night before we flew to france.

sizah: When you are at home and there is a big tournament going on, do you follow anything from it ?
fox: yep, as a matter of fact i followed the cpl summer event which was now this weekend. i saw a lot of matches on hltv. i followed cpl cologne closely also when there was q3 tdm.

sizah: So you like watching counter-strike to ?
fox: yeah, its exciting to watch and i have great respect for good counter-strikers. I know some of them also so :)

sizah: I guess and I hope you like watching q3 more :)
fox: heh yeah of course. its always better so watch something you're involved in so you know what the hell they are doing. counter-strike can be a little wierd sometimes.

sizah: Did or do you follow any normal sports this summer, like the World Cup 2002 in Korea and Japan or Tour the france?
fox: i tried to follow the world cup but being the computer-nerd that i am, i always stay up to like 4-5am and wake up late afternoon. all the wc-games were played in the morning so i was simply asleep :( but i saw the final playoff-games of course.

sizah: p1mps beated unreal with lasergame in Rotterdam, and unreal beated DkH, semt-x said in OdB movie that they prove that quakers have better aim, do you agree with him that Quakers have a better aim and reflex ?
fox: better aim, definately. better reflexes, hardly. counterstrike is based on aiming at a doorway or such and the one with the best reflexes wins the battle :P anyway thats how i see it.

sizah: If Counter-strike is going down, all good gamers from CS have to move to a other big game which is maybe a whole other style, lets say, q3 style game, do you think cs'ers will get owned if the diffrend of style is like the same as between q3 and cs ?
fox: Definately not. there's nothing saying that quake3-players are more talented or skilled in general. depending on the game, counter-strikers might get owned intially :) but probably catch up quickly. they are humans also you know :P

sizah: Do you have a poster of captain p1mp (a.k.a. proZaC) who was standing for The Game Syndicate?
fox: i do! when i was young i always read comics and captain p1mp was my favorite! it was a real honour to meet him in person in rotterdam! to bad he was wearing a disguise to conceal his true identiy. But i had a feeling i had met him before :o "too bad" even.

sizah: Do you watch you'r own demos after you played a match ?
fox: no, never. it's too boring. tbh i almost never record so i dont have any demos to watch :). I can see the benefits of watching yourself play but i just dont have the patience

sizah: If you wake up, whats next? how does fox day look like ?
fox: well its summer now so i wake up ~16:00, get up in my boxers and check all the new querys on irc. sit there to like untill 18:00 doing nothing, still undressed :)
maybe go out for a pizza or kebab with a friend or two.
I spend so much money on junk food :(

sizah: Do you play sports? football ? hockey ?
fox: yup I was very active in sport before I got my own computer. i played football since the age of 8 or 9. i also played hockey, badminton and floorball(?) actively.

sizah: Do you have a girlfriend or maybe a boyfriend ?
fox: no, all that took a halt when quake entered my life :P. its been devestating i tell you. for the record i've had numerous girlfriends but no luck with boys. still looking.

sizah: So if Quakers have same problem as you, they can email you ?
fox: sure!, if they're cute

sizah: Do you check esports sites for last news updates, articles and columns ?
fox: yes i check them all :). xsr, cyberfight, pro-cybernews, shackes, cached, sogamed etc. that is probably what takes up most of my time infront of the computer. That and lunarstorm!

sizah: Which esport site is the best in your opinion ?
fox: shackes has great news and xsreality has the funny comments.
It's hillarious to read the comments at sogamed also :P
Cyberfight has excellent coverage of events also :)

sizah: What music do you like ?
fox: good question. people always tell me i have really wierd taste in music.
I love both metal and trance/(real)techno which might not seem like a healthy mix :p
I usually have two playlists, one with trance and techno, and one with metal / rock.

sizah: What trance dj is the best in your opinion then?
fox: i switch between those like every other week

sizah: Holland have some great dj's :D
fox: hoho hard one :) ferry corsten is very good
dj tieso is nice also.

sizah: What is your favourit drink ?
fox: i dont have any particular, I cant afford drinking at bars :p

sizah: how old must you be to drink in Sweden and to visit a cafe ?
fox: You have to be 18 to order a drink in a pub and 21 to buy liqour/strong beer yourself in a store. alcohol cant be bought everywhere in sweden, only at "government-stores". systembolaget owns us :)

sizah: Do you like the pink panther ? or do you prefer donald duck ?
fox: donald duck for life. i have all magazines from 1978 or something, my sister got them before i was born so i continued to read them.

sizah: You was at the EC5 finale in Rotterdam(Holland), did you smoked some weed?
fox: no im not very leet at smoking in general. but I know about 50% of the players did :)

sizah: doh -> you are in Holland ! :D
sizah: What girls do you like ?
fox: swedish ones. without hesitation. after travelling some the recent weeks ive realized how lucky we are here :P brunettes > blondes.

sizah: What is your Quake3 idol or don't you have one ?
fox: since the first time I saw blue i was really impressed :) love to watch his style.
I was kinda late to discover him though :p atomic arena or what it was called. when he beat fatal1ty in the final.

sizah: What was your best match ever that you played ?
fox: hm impossible to say. its very rare that I say to myself "damn, I played good". I always feel I can do better.
Sorry to say this, but i cant say any specific match.

sizah: What mouse do you use ?
fox: i change mouse frequently. at la7 and ec5 it was a microsoft optical 1.1. it has the same flawless technology as explorer 3.0 but is slightly smaller.
At ec5 I saw that the unrealguys used another microsoft-mouse, wheel optical.
It fits better into my hand than the 1.1 so i ordered one immidietly :)
but now this weekend im going to do what i've wanted ever since the explorer 3.0 got released.
im going to combine a logi wingman and explorer 3.0, using the shape and buttons of the wingman and the optical technology of microsoft.
i saw a guy who'd already done this and he's putting together a guide on how do to it as we speak.
if it works out nicely i think i'll be sticking with that mouse (w3ve as he calles it) for a long time.

sizah: A lamer made a aimbot called OGC, it's really sad news that it's possible to play with a aimbot, what do you think about it ? What would you like to say to rhea from OSP or/and one of the people of ID Software who can fix it with maybe new pointrelease or OSP release ?
fox: the fact that an aimbot got released really sux. after people found out about it they are so god damn paranoid. ppl accuse you of cheating alot and it often results in a kick.
I have my doubts that osp will indeed update its mod to block this cheat. i imagine rhea is quite occupied with the development of osp for rtcw.
Lets pray that arqon releases a small update for osp like he updated cpm to detect ogc. but i doubt it.

sizah: Is there anything special you would like to share with us?
fox: yeah actually there is :p
in the early stages of quake3 i bought a pair of speakers for me to run my headphones through
so i could easily adjust the volume
turns out, 2 years later, that they were manufactured incorrectly :P
so i had been playing with inverted sound all along
hearing the left sound channel in my right ear, and vice versa
I desperately tried to change back but ended up facing away from enemies just as the were attacking me :)
so i have just gotten used to play with my headphones on backwards! :)
now, lets all yell "freak!"
funny thing, sound is actually where i feel im very good
I play very much by using sound
it kinda sux, cause i cant use plantronics headsets since you have only wear them one way
so im looking for hardware so reverse the sound :P a cable or something
would appreciate if someone told me how or where i can find such things.
